Google Search results can be divided into two main categories: organic results and paid results.
Organic results are the unpaid results that Google displays based on its ranking algorithm. They are the results that Google believes are most relevant to the user’s search query. Organic results can include web pages, images, videos, news articles, and other types of content.
Paid results, also known as sponsored results or Google Ads, are paid advertisements that appear at the top of the SERP (search engine results page). Businesses pay to have their ads displayed for relevant search queries. Paid results are typically labeled as “Ad” or “Sponsored.”
In addition to organic and paid results, Google Search also displays a variety of other types of results, including:
- Knowledge Graph: The Knowledge Graph is a box that appears on the right-hand side of the SERP for certain types of search queries. It provides users with quick access to key information about a topic, such as definitions, facts, and images.
- Rich results: Rich results are enhanced organic results that display additional information, such as product prices, ratings, and reviews.
- Featured snippets: Featured snippets are short snippets of text that appear at the top of the SERP for certain types of search queries. They provide users with a quick answer to their question without having to click on a link.
- Local results: Local results are organic results that are tailored to the user’s location. They typically include businesses and other places that are located near the user.
Google is constantly adding new features and capabilities to its search engine, so the types of results that users see may vary depending on the search query and the user’s location.
